Antique is a Swedish duo which combines Greek popular music and lyrics with a Nordic dance/pop beat. Antique's duo is Elena Paparizou and Nikos Panagiotidis. Both were born and raised in Sweden by Greek parents. They were the first group ever to be nominated for a Swedish Grammy in the category Modern Dance (with a Greek song). Elena and Nikos are not related, nor are they romantically involved. They have called their relationship 'as very good friends.' Both grew up in Gothenburg.
Traditionally, antiques were generally objects pre-dating the mass production of objects in the 1830's. Today, we define an antique as any object over 100 years old. ~ also see collectible
Traditionally an antique meant an item produces before 1840 and made by hand. Customs officials in most countires have deamed items over 100 years old to be antique and therefore duty free. It has recently come to mean any item of special value or of historical significance. To purists however the 100 year rule is still used.
Though the word 'antique' is commonly used to describe ordinary objects of less than considerable age (25 years or older, perhaps), in an art historical context the word is used to describe something that survives from antiquity, particularly artifacts surviving from Greek and Roman civilizations (between about 1300 BC and AD 500).
Made in the traditional manner by highly skilled craftspeople. A 'gather' of molten glass is enlarged to a cylindrical shape on the end of a blow pipe. Next, the ends are cut off. Then the Cylinder is cut length-wise before reheating to flatten into a sheet. The unique coloring and linear striations are characteristic of mouth-blown sheets. Most is made in England, Germany, or France.
refers in general to an object with special value due to its age. The particular age indicated by the term 'antique' can vary from one collecting category to another, however. In jewelry, antique refers to pieces made at least 100 years ago. See also contemporary and estate.
